Google sitemap is an XML file which Google define to be helpful tool for spiders to crawl into a web site's inner pages. Google's new sitemap protocol was developed in response to the increasing size, complexity and pages multiplicity of websites. Business websites, like shopping carts, often contained hundreds of products in their catalogues; while the popularity of blogs led to webmasters updating their blogs at least once a day, not to mention popular community-building tools like forums. In this sitemap.xml file the spiders can find a data about the inner pages that they can't determine themselves; such as changing frequency, page importance – you can show the spiders which page is more important then the other in grades from 1.0 to 0.0. And time of last update. Before submitting your sitemap to Google, you will be requested to verify that this is your site.
